Meet Kara.  When her daughter was 3, she was plagued by terrible tantrums.  Nothing Kara and her Husband did helped.  That is, until they experimented with diet. After removing gluten and dairy from their daughter's diet, they saw a complete 180 in her mood and demeanor.  Since then, Kara has been dedicated to not only providing a healthy lifestyle for her family, but sharing this newly found passion with others.

Here is Kara's story in her own words:

"When you know better, you do better. Knowledge is powerful but it’s not just having the knowledge that sets us apart but acting upon that knowledge. Taking action and being empowered to make the changes to live a healthier and happier life. It’s my passion to empower and transform women’s lives through nutrition. I love teaching them the importance of a whole foods diet and how to fuel their bodies properly to live a thriving life. So many women are running from one fad diet to the next, tediously counting every.single.calorie, or being a slave to the gym and yet not seeing or feeling the results they so long for.

It’s become my mission to spread the truth about how vital nutrition is in our lives. I’ve seen clients get off medications for acne, pain, sleep, and auto immune disorders just from changing their nutrition to a whole food based diet. I’ve seen clients lose 15 pounds without working out by simply focusing on their nutrition. But more than that, I’ve seen lives changed. They have created freedom, health, and have more energy and confidence.

Nutrition has always been an important part of my life. I knew the importance of living a healthy lifestyle but it wasn’t until two years ago that I personally saw how vital a role nutrition plays.

My daughter, London, {at the time 3} had uncontrollable tantrums, anger spells, and often a fog over her. Countless nights were spent, restless, praying for an answer. Were we bad parents? Were we being too lenient? Were we being too tough? Were we going about parenting the wrong way? My husband and I wanted nothing more than to figure out what was causing our toddler to act out. We were at a loss as her tantrums became more severe and more frequent. In tears, I often found myself prayerfully seeking the Lord's direction.

People would often say, "Oh, she's just strong willed. She'll grow out of it.” It was always so frustrating to me. These people never saw who she became in these, at times, violent episodes. Throughout this season we changed our schedule and social calendar to accommodate what London was going through. Usually these episodes happened at home so very few people outside of Noah and myself ever saw her act out like this. Our disciplining didn’t seem to help, time-outs led to longer and stronger outbursts, and any consequences were ineffective.

At a complete loss, I began my own research. Realizing the effects food has on our body, I began researching the way a child's diet can affect their behavior. I came across an article that talked about children and gluten intolerance. It listed several symptoms that were an exact match of London's.

That was all I needed. We immediately removed all gluten from London’s diet. I knew I had to at least give it a try and see if it helped her. I know it comes across to most as overly inspirational, but it was like a switch was flipped. Whether that switch was turned on or off, she became a new girl as soon as the the gluten had been filtered from her little body. Her out of control tantrums stopped almost immediately and completely. She seemed more clear minded and once again became so much more pleasant. I had my little girl back.

 

Motherhood inspires and ignites in me my passion and mission to spread the word about how nutrition impacts everything. I created my coaching business, Life Well Lived, to empower and educate women to live their healthiest lives and to be the best versions they can be. It’s an honor to work with my clients through my Transform: Nutrition Bootcamp and watch how they not only lose weight but create a healthy lifestyle that will last."
