Our Wildway Crew highlights ordinary people doing extraordinary things.
Within each of us lies the potential to live life to the fullest. We have the ability to choose our own destiny, live without fear or limits, challenge ourselves and grow, do and be whatever makes us happy. We have the ability to be free. It's how you live a Wildway of life and there are people all around us inspiring others with their actions. We want to celebrate that by highlighting and honoring those who #LiveWild. (More on that here)
Meet this week's featured Wildway Crew member:
Outlook = It’s not about the past that resonates in your soul, but about the new love that captures every single part of your being.
Meet Sarah. Sarah was your typical Type-A perfectionist who was never satisfied unless she came in first place. Eventually, she turned over a new stone, and now approaches each day as an opportunity to be the best person she can be. We can all learn from Sarah to strive for our own daily greatness.
Here is Sarah's story in her own words:
"I was that kid growing up that truly believed I played a terrible game if I didn't score a goal in every soccer game and believed you could either excel beyond measure or you're the failed second place; the first loser. I've really struggled with it over the years especially regarding soccer. I never truly enjoyed playing the sport until I started playing in a co-ed league in college. All the stress I had put on myself playing elite soccer growing up had vanished. It didn't matter if I scored, I just wanted to be great. It took me years to figure this out, so now I aim to be intentional with my Wildway of Life. You can’t always be the best but you can always be great."
It was this realization that really set the tone for Sarah's new life. No longer focused on being THE best but being HER best and striving for daily greatness in all that she does.
"I want to leave an impact on the people’s lives I touch every day. I spend my 8a-5p working for a non profit east of downtown in San Antonio. As the Director of Development, I manage a yearly grant budget of over $500,000 in funding and maintain relationships with current and future funders. There is really only one option in my career field and that is to live daily greatness. The applications I apply for on behalf of my organization have the potential to change the lives of those living at or below the poverty line. My clients depend on me to be great. Outside of my 8a-5p, I spend 5-6 days a week either in crossfit or bikram yoga at the Union. The entire organization epitomizes daily greatness. The instructors and coaches give their lives to help others achieve their goals."
What a great lesson: when we work together instead of competing against one another, we can ALL achieve.
I want to leave you with Sarah's favorite quote from Albus Dumbledore:
"Happiness can be found, even in the darkest of times, if one only remembers to turn on the light." — Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban
"I think that every person has experienced some sort of darkness and despair, it’s super important to find the good and happiness in that dark place as a building block out."
Live Wild. Achieve Greatness.
