Wildway Crew Stories: The Kidder Family (Leadership)

Our Wildway Crew highlights ordinary people doing extraordinary things.

Within each of us lies the potential to live life to the fullest. We have the ability to choose our own destiny, live without fear or limits, challenge ourselves and grow, do and be whatever makes us happy. We have the ability to be free. It's how you live a Wildway of life and there are people all around us inspiring others with their actions. We want to celebrate that by highlighting and honoring those who  #LiveWild.  (More on that here)

Meet this week's featured Wildway Crew members:

The Kidder Family

San Antonio, Texas
Wildway of Life = Leadership

Outlook = "If you always do what you have always done you will always get what you have always got!"

Meet The Kidder Family.  Blake, Kelly, and their Daughter Payton are a beautiful illustration of leadership - putting family, health, and a positive attitude above all else.  They lead by example, for each other and for others.  Whether they are at a CrossFit competition, out shooting archery, or spending time together, the Kidder's are constantly striving to better themselves and to touch the lives around them in a positive way.  Leadership doesn't have to come in the form of a fancy job title or a corner office, true leadership comes from your everyday actions and how you treat others.  The Kidder Family is the perfect example of what leadership looks like.

Here is The Kidder Family's story in their own words:

The Kidder's Wildway of life is quite simple...live life to the fullest, create memories that last a lifetime, and love every minute of it.

We started this journey about 4 years ago. I first introduced my wife to crossfit after our huntingmoon, I mean honeymoon in South Africa. Our goal was to simply get back into shape, but what happened next would change our lives forever. Kelly and I became addicted to the process.

I have always loved to work out, as a previous collegiate athlete it was a part of my life for many years, but after a serious back injury I was quite limited to what I could do. So why not try this thing called Crossfit? Constantly varied functional movements executed at high intensity across broad time and modal domains, with the goal of improving fitness. For Kelly and I it seemed to be exactly what we need.

Before we knew it we looked at our lifestyle from a different perspective. We trained to become healthier individuals and a healthier family. Since then our choices and habits have rubbed off on our daughter Payton, and I can only wait to see what the future has in store for her.

Over the past few years each of us have reached individual goals and look forward to accomplishing new ones. Kelly and I have had the opportunity to compete with each other at a local CrossFit competition and I reached a big goal of mine, which was to compete on the South Central regional floor. In May of 2016 my Lone Star CrossFit team and I had the opportunity to do just that. Kelly has been progressing every time I turn around. Watching my wife grow mentally and physically is something that will never get old. I cant wait to compete with her again. Payton seems to be crushing PR's left and right. From being a straight A student and a positive influence of a healthy lifestyle to her friends and cousins, nothing comes short of her hard work ethic in the classroom, on the soccer field, or in the gym. Over the past year she has conquered the task of many gymnastics, CrossFit, soccer and archery skills.

Oh you thought we Crossfit just for fun?? Think again!! To be a good bow hunter you have to be fit. As an archer it takes skill, patience, and hard work. As a family we look forward to hunting trips that will also test our physical fitness. Elk, Mule Deer, and Bear hunts are in our future in 2017 and 2018. There is nothing more Wild than hunting North American game. We look forward to harvesting wild game every year only to provide the highest quality of protein for our Wildway of Life.

The Wildway of life for the Kidder family is all about living a healthy lifestyle and leading others by example. We hope that we can influence individuals and other families to do the same. Get out there and create long lasting memories. Remember 'If you always do what you have always done you will always get what you have always got!'"

Live Wild. And Lead by Example.
