“Let me win. But if I cannot win, let me be brave in the attempt.”
That is the motto of Special Olympics, and that is the oath of every inspiring athlete that competes in this incredible organization. Wildway got to see the power of that mantra first-hand as we volunteered at the SOTX Summer Games 2019 this past weekend and we are forever changed for the better because of it.
This year marks the 50th year of the Special Olympics Summer Games Competition, and this year Wildway got to be a part of it. Hosted at Morgan’s Wonderland in San Antonio, TX, this event was a front-door opportunity to be around thousands of amazing athletes and their supporters that we could not pass up. Especially, since 100% of the profits from our Summer We Rise flavor (COMING SOON) will be dedicated to the Special Olympics organization. Wildway has always believed in this cause and we were honored to finally have a chance to support it in an even bigger way. So, when that Saturday morning of Summer Games arrived, our team was eager and excited to be in on the fun.
Wildway volunteered at the Track & Field events, which included everything from Long Jump and Shotput to the 100 Meter Dash and 800 Meter Relay. We were lucky enough to not only provide lots of our grain-free granola to fuel everyone, but also be on the field aiding in the competition and interacting with the athletes. Wildway Founders Kyle and Kelli even got the privilege of placing medals on a few of the winners.

Team Wildway has yet to stop smiling after those two days and we are still so stirred by all the admirable people involved in Special Olympics- from the athletes and their families to the organizers and coordinators of remarkable events like this one. It was a weekend full of cheers and champions, hugs and high fives, and an infectious sense of encouragement that warmed our hearts and touched our souls.
As we launch our We Rise product line, we are so excited to continue our contribution to the Special Olympics and their efforts to create a better world by fostering the acceptance and inclusion of all people. We all have the power to make a difference, but when we rise together, anything is possible.
